Even if you have never built a model boat before ... you'll be amazed at how easy it is, and how much fun this hobby can be.  Whether you're a builder or racer-novice or an experienced  modeller, there's something for you at  Metro Marine.  Why not check us out!

Model Shipbuilding
Model shipbuilding is one of the few hobbies today that is truly affordable.  That's because it can be as simple or complex as  you wish to make it.  This hobby can be enjoyed by all age groups.  There are literally as many different types and sizes of model boats as there are full size ones.

Getting Started on your New Project
Newcomers to the hobby usually start by building from a kit. Local hobby shops carry many different types of kits, all include the necessary parts, materials and instructions to show you just how to assemble and finish your model.  Only a few basic tools are needed for the actual building, so it is not really an expensive hobby. Often kits have the hull of the ship already made, which simplifies the building even more.  Many manufactures have the fittings included in the kit, so you don't have to make all the intricate pieces like anchors, lifeboats winches, etc.

If you're really ambitious....
you can obtain a set of plans and start from scratch with your own materials.  Scratch building requires some knowledge of building methods of course, but nonetheless can be both challenging and rewarding.

Metro Marine Modellers Club offers you
the opportunity to meet other Modellers who are always eager to help you in this  challenging and fascinating hobby. You'll also share in the many group activities that are enjoyed by active boat builders. MMM also has a library of ship modelling magazines and books available for your use.
